| Book Review and Reading Sites |
| These are some sites that have impressed me: |
Do you like mysteries? Do you like mystery series? Do you want to know what book is next in a series? Or do you just want to know more about the mystery novels available? Then you have to visit Stop, You're Killing Me! I often recommend this to reference librarian friends.
05/2006 New webmasters have recently taken over the site and promise to keep up its quality. |
Here's a review site by a librarian who loves to read. I started looking it over and was immediately flipping over to my library online to reserve one of the books she recommends. Check out: The Brown Bookloft |

I'm always on the lookout for sites that list series books in order, as well as have reviews. Someone (my brother and sister, perhaps?) referred me to Books 'n Bytes, and it's a great site. It specializes in mysteries and fantasies, and science fiction. Also, there's something appealing about a website with a picture of the owner's pets on the first page. When books are rated, they're rated in paws rather than stars. |
These days you can often find me at . The Reader's Place is a site for people who enjoy reading to discuss what they read, are reading, books they are buying, read books as a group, and just plain hang out in an area where everyone is a bibliofile. |
Nicholas Whyte has review pages for Hugo and Nebula award winners (science fiction writing), plus more science fiction related reading. Often we have reviews of the same book.
|
You can find a number of books reviewed by Molly. Molly is also an author, although the reviews are of other authors' books she likes. Molly Martin's Author Site is the location of her home pages. Check out Molly's world and writing. |
Happy Blue Dog is another book review site I like. It has science fiction and fantasy novels and led me to some new authors to try. |
For wonderful humor on book reading, is a must visit. This links to the Classics list, and there is also a Science Fiction/Fantasy list, Bedtime list, and Movie-A-Minute list. Books have been abridged to 10 lines or less. |
| Web Page Building |
W3 Schools is another free Web site which is completely devoted to web page building. It includes tutorials
for HTML, XHTML, XML, and more. The tutorials are easy to follow and very helpful. |
Bignose Bird is a strange name for a web building site. Yet it is free and gives excellent assistance! The authors have added numerous tools for any budding (or experienced) web page builder. There are HTML tips, general design tips, how to increase traffic tips, pictures, links, banner creation tips, and I haven't discovered what all else.
8/06 I'm not sure how recently the site has been updated, but the information is still good. |

Recently I completed a major programming upgrade to the Jandy's Reading Room Web site. Since it's only me, I'm counting on you to be my copy editors. If a link is broken, I've made a typo, or there is some other error you notice, please send me an e-mail. Thanks!

Amazon.com is pleased to have Jandy's Reading Room in the family of Amazon.com associates. We've agreed to ship books and provide customer service for orders we receive through special links in Jandy's Reading Room.
