This strange book is quite intriguing. I'm not sure if it is general fiction or science fiction. I think I'm going to have to sit on this one a while in my head. Then perhaps all the pieces will fall into place. Harry Gainesborough wrote children's books for his daughter that were very successful. Then she drowned. He ended up in a mental institution because he could not cope. He wrote one more story while in the hospital. This was a dark, evil story called Zod Wallop. One of the other patients had read Harry's books since he was a child. He finds the original draft of Zod Wallop, takes it and destroys it. Raymond then insists the story be written again, the "correct" way, happy for children. The new Zod Wallop becomes Harry's most famous and least favorite book. After he is released, Harry goes into seclusion. Raymond leaves the institution and seeks Harry out. Then the evils from the book start manifesting themselves in the real world. And what is this with the experimental drug that many of them tried without knowing? As I said, this is an interesting book. It puts your mind to work puzzling out what the last move meant and what the next move is. |
