Zinnia

by Jayne Castle
aka Jayne Ann Krentz

Science Fiction1/12/1999

Zinnia is a telepathic prism on St. Helens. Her family fortune was lost by her father before he died, she was framed as the central figure in a scandal, and had her interior decorating business flounder due to the negative publicity. She had registered at a marriage agency and been deemed unmatchable. Zinnia now works part time to supplement her income. She is a good prism for matrix talents, a difficult type of telepathic talent for most prisms to work with.

Nick Chastain is an off-the scale matrix talent who is the wealthy owner of one of the largest casinos in the city. He has been cut off from his father's family but has made it on his own. He now wants to prove his father's claims and gain repectability for himself again.

Zinnia was helping a matrix talent who had an old journal Nick was interested in purchasing. When the book dealer disappears, she confronts Nick Chastain. Nick clears himself with her, then they find the dealer dead in his store. They team up to investigate.

I had a good time with this book like I did the other two in the triology. The first book, Amaryllis, sets up the background of the planet St. Helens. The third book, Orchid finishes off the romance science fiction trilogy.
