The Wandering FireGuy Gavriel Kay
The five called to Fionavar have returned to their own home. They are waiting to return at the proper time. Four of them carry lasting changes from their first visit. Jennifer is still twisted and broken from her harrowing experience, David is stronger, Paul is wiser, and Kim, the Seer, has an unexplained connection. Kim knows when it is time to return. She takes them to a magic place in our world and calls up a special spirit. These five return to Fionavar. Although it is almost midsummer, Fionavar is gripped in an icy, cold winter. Black magic more powerful than their mages can combat has the country in its grasp. Kevin, Kim, Paul, David, and Jennifer must use their internal powers to help Fionavar. This book started out somewhat slowly for me. Fortunately a short chapter is devoted to what happened in the first book of the Fionavar Tapestry, The Summer Tree to remind us what happened in the first complex novel. As I kept reading, I kept getting more mesmerized. This deep tale pulls the reader in slowly but surely. By the end I was turning pages as quickly as I could. You can find more about this book at
