Star Trek fluff to appeal to the devoted Star Trek fan. This book fits that perfectly. We have a finish to the untold story of the romance between Deanna Troi and Worf. We have Will Riker, still unsure of his ultimate feelings for Deanna. We briefly have Jadzia Dax, Worf's ultimate mate. Tom Riker, Will's duplicate, appears. So does Sela, Tasha Yar's Romulan daughter. If all that is totally incomprehensible to you, don't bother with this book. Otherwise, this is soap opera to please any Star Trek fan. It picks up where the Enterprise D crashes and takes Deanna and Worf's romance through to its conclusion. Along the way we not only meet those mentioned above, but Lwaxana Troi (of course), Jean Luc Picard, Geordie LaForge, and Odo weave in and out. A few other regulars and guests are in the distant background as well. I'll admit to crying by the end. That is because I have been immersed in these characters for years. This is not a great book, by any means. It is enjoyable, especially by the romantic. But to please any swashbuckling heart, there are fights, battles, poisonings, and near death along the way. This Star Trek fiction is fun, and enjoyable for those who like the series. |
