Yeah, yeah, it's one of those mass market Star Trek books. Who can keep up with those fluff books? I don't keep up with all of them, but if you're a Star Trek fan (and I am) they are fun to read. I have read others by Diane Carey and have found her to stay true to the characters. I enjoyed this one. This is based on the Voyager episode where Tuvok took Janeway back to the U.S.S. Excelsior in a mind meld. We saw the explosion of Praxis (The movie Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country) and subsequent events from a different point of view. It is also fun to visit the Original crew from a historical viewpoint. Janeway and Tuvok were re-examining what happened with 80 years of history to compare the actions and results. This screenplay/book was written in 1996 as part of the Star Trek 30th anniversary celebration. If you are a Star Trek fan, you will like this one. It is a quick, easy, enjoyable read. |
