Eric

Fantasy10/9/2000 Rating:4 Scrolls

Eric is a teenage boy on Discworld who wants to summon a demon he can rule. His spell goes awry. Instead he pulls Rincewind from the realm of the demons. Eric does not believe Rincewind is not a demon. He commands that he receive three wishes.

Rincewind is bound by Eric's spell. But demons rarely work the way humans want them to. The same is true of Rincewind's magic. He tries to do as Eric bids with unexpected results. In the meantime, the luggage is following Rincewind and Eric.

This is a short, cute book. This book gives meaning to the phrase, "Be careful what you wish for. You may get it." Rincewind is disgusted at being at the beck and call of this young man, yet cannot avoid his duty. He also does not have control of what will happen as a wish is granted. This is not deep reading, or timeless reading. It is a fun way to keep up with Discworld.
