Dragon Season

Michael Cassutt

Fantasy3/25/2000

Air Force lieutenant Rick Walsh is returning to Tucson from an eight month tour of the Pacific. He is looking for his girlfriend at the airport. Instead he finds his unknown month old son crying and Maia suddenly disappeared. Where is Maia? Why didn't she mention his son?

Rick soon becomes more confused. He discovers that a high number of people have disappeared from the Tucson area. A policeman approaches him about Maia's disappearance. Yet something is wrong with the man and Rick cannot quite figure out why. Maia's mother shows up. As Jayan is caring for the baby Gus, they both are kidnapped.

As Rick chases the kidnappers out to the sparse desert something strange happens. Instead of night in the desert he suddenly is walking in water in the lit morning. What is going on? Where is he? Now what does he do?

This is an interesting book. It starts out like a kidnapping suspense and turns into fantasy. The beginning is very intriguing. Unfortunately it falls apart at the end. The author had a good idea that he did not finish as well as he started it.
