Ambassador Spock is still hidden on Romulus trying to teach Surak's message. He believes in the Unification of the Romulan and Vulcan populations with enough education. He knows it will not be easy, but is a goal worth striving for. Spock and a group of his followers have traveled to one of Romulus outpost planets. They are betrayed and taken into custody. The governor on this planet has put them in jail with execution for treason scheduled in a few days. Admiral Leonard McCoy has been summoned to join the crew of the Enterprise-D. They will then travel to the Romulan Neutral Zone to rescue Ambassador Spock. McCoy has problems with Jean Luc Picard's actions, or in his opinion, non-actions, with the Romulans. He wants to charge in and bring out Spock. Picard tries to negotiate before the Romulans discover who they have in their prison. Captain Montgomery Scott intercepts a Priority One message regarding Spock's arrest. He also makes plans to go to the Neutral Zone and rescue the missing ambassador. His plan includes "borrowing" a starship from the Federation. He "borrows" a cloaking device as well. This novel takes three of the loved characters from the original Star Trek series who were brought back in the Next Generation series and gets them together again in one story. The Next Generation characters are also included, but are a smaller part of the story. It's fun, and one that fans will enjoy. |
