The Second SummoningTanya Huff
The Second Summoning is the second in Huff's charming Keeper series. We met Claire, a powerful Keeper, in the first book, Summon the Keeper. We also met Dean, the Bystander (normal human), who helped her, and her younger sister, Diana, a stronger Keeper who is still a teen. Together, along with a ghost and some other help, they have to close the gate to Hell. Now Claire and Dean have gotten away from the Elysian Fields Hotel and are travelling together as Claire has to close up holes and pockets of evil. Diana has returned home to finish high school. Claire and Dean are travelling together along with Austin, the talking "familiar" cat. They are in love, but Claire refuses to follow through with it. She is a Keeper, which is dangerous work, and even more dangerous for the Bystander. She doesn't want Dean hurt. Together, though, Claire, Dean, and Diana accidently let loose a new set of powers. An angel is manifested in the body of a teen age boy. A demon is manifested in the opposite body of a teen age girl. The human bodies start to affect the supernaturals' natures. Now, with The Second Summoning, Claire and Diana have to once again prevent a struggle against good and evil, shutting out the evil from the Earth. The Second Summoning is another quick, enjoyable read. It is not deep, but a lot of fun. I had to chuckle as the angel and demon suddenly find themselves dealing with raging teen age hormones as well as the normal demands of a human body. Yet they both have Higher Knowledge as well. These are two very confused creatures. You can find more about this book at The Series: |
