Northern Idaho is an unusual place for many people to determine their future. But it is for Freya Daly. Her father and CEO of the family business has sent her there to purchase some property for the company. Freya has been in the family real estate business all her adult life. She has been tough and successful. Recently, though, she's been having problems with her eyes. They keep leaking, a condition the doctors haven't been able to cure yet. The first thing she does when she arrives at the old campground in the beautiful countryside is to start convincing the owner, Nate Brody, to sell out. Nate lives there with his 10-year-old daughter and his stepmother. His long absent father had left him the property and a mystery. Nate promised to keep the land until he had found something his father had hidden on the property. He put his life in Cincinnati on hold while he carries out this final promise. What neither of them know is the "something" is an item that will tie together the Daly and Brody families from before Nate and Freya's birth and bring them together again. Freya also doesn't expect to fall for Piper, Nate's daughter, and identify with the girl. She knew what it was like to miss her mother as a young girl. Piper has a great dad, but still wishes for her mother's return. Her mother arrives a day or two later, deepening the mystery that started all those years ago. Wish You Were Here is a fun romance novel with a mystery twist to it. We first met Freya in Crazy in Love. Now we get her full, follow up story. This isn't a deep story. Freya is an appealing character with the flaws needed to keep her real. Nate could use another flaw or two, but is a good romantic hero. Piper is the best part of his life. His dedication to her and his stepmother are admirable. The physical background sounds attractive. Unfortunately this book is too short to give a lot of description. I've never been up there, but it's an area I wouldn't mind visiting in the summer. Wish You Were Here adds to that perception of a beautiful place to visit. (If you live up there, don't mind my desire to only visit - I don't want to live in deep, cold, snowy winter again.) Enjoy Wish You Were Here. Lana Diane Rich weaves a delightful tale with a proper amount of mystery to give it a bit of edge. Notice: Strong sexual content |
