When they were young, Mackensie, Parker, Emma, and Laurel played Wedding Day. When they grew up, they started their own business, Vows, that organizes weddings. They provided the services needed for the perfect wedding. During their games as kids Mac discovered she loves photographing people. She is now the official photographer for Vows. She not only does wedding pictures, but also can add engagement pictures and will do other life moments sessions as well - such as maternity, anniversaries, etc.

Mac Elliott loves her work and is very happy in her life. A soon-to-be bride comes in for a consult. Mac notices the man with her and is glad to discover he is her brother rather than fiance. Carter Maguire had a crush on Mac back in high school. But as the class nerd, he never approached her. Now he has a PhD in education and teaches at the same high school they had both attended. But Carter still feels a bit awkward approaching Mac but is determined to anyway. First they meet in the local coffee shop near the high school. That puts them in the gossip mill!

Mac's parents divorced when she was young. Her father is on his third marriage and is rarely around. Her mother has been married just as many times and is currently between men. She depends on Mac for support. Mac doesn't want to risk repeating her parents' mistakes. She doesn't plan on marrying. Soon Carter is challenging her long held convictions. Perhaps he's worth taking a chance on after all. Can she trust herself?

Vision in White is one of Nora Roberts' pure romance novels. It has the man's nasty ex who doesn't want to let go. It has all the romance of the many brides as well as for Mac. But is also has Nora's signature strong women. Although Mac is not organized and is reluctant to commit to Carter, she is very strong and confident in her work and her sense of self. She loves her work and enjoys pulling the best out of people.

This is thoroughly enjoyable escape reading. It's not deep or challenging -and was perfect reading for me while I was waiting around behind the scenes at a friend's wedding this weekend. Vision in White is the first of a set of four novels featuring the women behind Vows.
