Maddie McCullough was an engineer on an oil rig in the North Sea. While flying into Glasgow to meet the man she has admired all her life, her plane goes down and everyone else disappears. When she finally comes across people, something is wrong. She meets the man out on a path, but he is not the man she knew. She finally comes to realize that this man is not the person she expected. They may look the same, but do not act the same. Rowan Murray, laird of his clan in Northern thirteenth-century Scotland, marries Maddie. He had been directed to marry the first woman he met after leaving the local witch woman. That was Maddie. He finds himself drawn to her, but will not let his feelings for her take him away from his duty. Maddie does not know what to do about Rowan. He is not her love, yet is still attractive to her. She wants to return to her own time in the twentieth century. While she is in the past, though, she'll help these people make their life easier or safer. She introduces them to spinning wheels, CPR, and chimneys. The Murray clan quickly accept her, all except Rowan. Once again, this is an easy read. It never hit any heights, just a predictable romance. There was one possible twist at the end, but was quickly dealt with by the local fairies. While this book is readable, there are others more worth the time if you are limited in that commodity. Notice: Suggestive dialogue or situations |
