Maddie Moore is leaving Los Angeles to Washington State to start a new life. Her absent mother has left she and her two step-sisters an old inn and property on the shore in Lucky Harbor. Maddie is the middle sister and the one her mother described as The Mouse. She is determined now to be a stronger woman, not wishy washy as in the past. And she has given up men forever. When she meets her sisters Tara and Chloe at the property, they are ready to sell. Maddie is looking forward to starting fresh there and keeping the inn running. She convinces the two to give themselves a month to clean up the place and look at their options. Then she calls the local master carpenter for help on the renovations. Jax Cullen is not only the town's master carpenter, but also the hottie she ran off the road on her way into town. He makes her uncomfortable because of the attraction she feels for him the moment they meet. She's off men forever. But perhaps Jax could change her mind. And perhaps Maddie can get her sisters to change their mind and stay in Lucky Harbor. And that pretty much says it all about the story line. While it's cute and has potential, there's not enough story. Most of Simply Irresistible is soft porn - if Maddie isn't having sex, she's thinking about it or talking about it. I'm sure that professional romance reviewers would call this book "hot" or "sexy". Well, it is - too much so. Jill Shalvis has Maddie's character grow and strengthen in Simply Irresistible There is some story line that kept my attention. There just isn't enough for my tastes. I like the story line with three sisters not knowing each other and being thrown together (Montana Sky, anyone?). It will produce two more novels, one for each sister. Hopefully they'll have more meat on them. Notice: Explicit sexual content, Strong indecent language Provided by publicist for review |
