This is a collection of novella length Christmas romance and suspense stories. I picked it up for the J.D. Robb story. Two of the stories are definitely romance only. The other two include the suspense. Only one is a combination of new romance and suspense. The Robb story has the ongoing romance of Dallas and Roarke, but is more mystery than romance. This is a light, fun read. A Berry Merry Christmas by Claire Cross is cute, whimsical. Holly is an elf from the North Pole who is sent to bring a couple together for the sake of a young girl. The Unexpected Gift, by Dee Holmes, gives us the tale of a divorced woman meeting the man who wouldn't stay with her. He has returned and her feelings are once more mixed up. In Christmas Promises, by Susan Plunkett, a man returns to a family Christmas. He has to pick up his step-sister and the woman he once loved. He never knew why she left him. Now he will find out. But she may be killed before she can attend the family gathering. Midnight in Death is the J.D. Robb novella, and the reason I bought the book. In this, one of the serial killers Eve Dallas had jailed three years earlier escaped from prison and has started again. He leaves his calling card and list with the first body. Her name is the last one on the list of intended victims. She has to stop him before he can get to anyone else on the list, including herself. This is not deep reading. This is a book to curl up by the fireplace with some hot chocolate and escape for a couple hours. Have fun. Notice: Non-graphic violence, Strong sexual content |
