The third of the Stars of Mithra, three blue diamonds with a special myth attached to them, was sent to Grace Fontaine. But now police Lieutenant Seth Buchanan is investing her murder in her home. She was pushed off the side of her stairs. Her face has been smashed beyond recognition. He knew she had had the third fabulous diamond. But her home is ransacked and she is dead. Or is she? When he returns to do a closer inspection of her home, she comes around a corner holding a gun on him, accusing him of breaking in and destroying her home. That's when he discovers her cousin had been in the house and was the person who had been pushed through the railing. The third Star of Mithra is returned to the set. Grace's friend, Bailey (Hidden Star) will finish appraising them, then they will go to the Smithsonian Institute. But Grace is still in trouble. Seth, nicknamed The Machine at the the police station, finds himself drawn to her. He also is determined to discover who is responsible for the death of her cousin, Bailey's step brothers, and the near death of the women's other close friend, M.J. (Captive Star). Seth is also determined not to be pulled in by the shallow, rich beauty. It takes Bailey and M.J. to show Grace's depth to Seth. Grace, in the meantime, is fighting her attraction to Seth. Well, not exactly fighting it. But she realizes that he doesn't care for her. She weasels her way into his senses. She knows he is physically attracted to her. But for the first time in her life, Grace wants more. Seth doesn't seem able to give more. This is a charming, easy to read finish to the Stars of Mithra trilogy. It's a bit fantastic, like the first two. Even so, it's a fun read that is written to entertain. It is not deep. The good and evil are black and white with no shades of gray. This is a pure romance novel. Charming is the best adjective I can use. Notice: Strong sexual content |
