Romance 11/16/2010 Rating: 2 Scrolls

Tina Bender loves her job as a Hollywood gossip columnist for an L.A. tabloid. She digs for dirt and comes up with the scandalous headlines. She isn't much loved by celebrities. That doesn't stop her. She's proud of her work and gets a thrill when she creates screaming headlines. Otherwise she has a quiet life. She lives with her elderly aunt who has dementia. Her only relationship is a instant message cyber friend - a man she assumes is geeky and solitary.

There is a way Tina may be stopped. She receives a voice message. The disguised voice says "Stop printing stories about me. If you don't,Tina Bender, you're dead." Tina wants to shrug it off but she is smart enough to tell her boss. The next thing she knows, Felix, her boss, has hired a bodyguard for her. Calvin Dean is an attractive man yet Tina doesn't care. She doesn't want anyone watching over her. She's sure she doesn't need a bodyguard.

Cal knows he's not wanted. That's not going to stop him from doing his job. He's not going to let Tina out of his sight. Even when she gets home at night, he hangs around outside her home. Soon he insinuates himself into her aunt's affections and into Tina's personal life. The threats continue, then a bomb goes off. Tina finally believes that her life is in danger. Plus she starts feeling an attraction to Cal that she'd rather not. Yeah, he can hang around a while.

Scandal Sheet is a lot of fluff and fun. There's not much meat even with the mystery of the threats. It's good for something to read when all the reader wants is some mindless entertainment - a good beach book. Gemma Halliday has sprinkled Scandal Sheet with current buzz. Many of the references to Hollywood celebrities are the type that will be forgotten within a couple years as new scandals come along. Gemma Halliday has started a series of Hollywood Headlines romances. If the rest are similar to this, look for other, better romances.
