Phoebe Turlow has recently divorced. Now the dog she rescued has decided to live with her ex-husband and new wife instead of her. She has lost her job due to a key retirement and job cutbacks. She is emotionally as far down as she can be. So she takes up an offer for a free weekend trip to the Caribbean in exchange for touring the condos for sale on Paradise Island. The last night of the weekend there is a mandatory costume party she must attend. She dons her "wench" costume and takes the elevator to the basement. She walks out to the cellar and realizes something is wrong. She turns back to the elevator. Now there is a carved stone wall in front of her. Behind her is a bad tempered man demanding what she is doing there. Duncan Rourke is a rebel fighting for the colonies in the Caribbean during 1780. He is astonished to find this woman in his cellar. She speaks English oddly. He can understand her words, but not the meaning. Her presence is unexplained. So is her attraction. Fun story, and I enjoy time travel romances. Phoebe is a wise woman, living with her 20th century beliefs, yet having to live within the 18th century attitudes. Duncan came from a loving family that did not dominate its women, so he is able to adjust to her independence and stubbornness.
