Laurel Wilkins has finally found the courage to meet a man on line and agrees to meet him at a coffee shop. She's supposed to meet Russ Evans, a man who had gone to high school with one of her friends from her college. She is waiting in the coffee shop when he comes in to buy a cup of coffee.
Russ had been sitting in a police car with his partner watching the coffee shop. They were waiting for a con man to go in and meet a girl named Laurel. They know Trevor Dean is setting up his next victim and hope to catch him before he does. But Trevor doesn't show. Finally Russ walks into the coffee shop to see what is going on. He is buying a cup of coffee when Laurel walks up to him, letting him know she has been waiting for him.
Russ is immediately attracted to Laurel so decides to discuss the situation with her, warning her about meeting strange men. He realizes that Trevor had used his name while chatting online with Laurel. She is out for a fling. Russ can't understand why she isn't already hooked up with some other guy and decides if she wants a fling, he'll give it to her.
Laurel isn't the only one looking for a fling. Russ is a busy cop with family responsibilities. He can't allow himself more than short relationships. But this woman takes hold of him. Laurel may be deaf, but she's not dumb. She realizes that Russ may be more than a fling for her, too. Neither know that Trevor Dean is still out there checking out Laurel's fortune.
Mouth to Mouth is a cute bit of fluff with a lot of soft porn. Erin McCarthy has developed some engaging characters with their bits of flaws and strengths. It's a quick read and fun. It suceeds at what is meant to do - entertain and tittilate.
