Michael Quinn had been a vampire hunter. Now, instead, he is a vampire. Now he sees things differently. Yes, some vampires are evil and should be hunted. But not all of them. He had never let himself see that while he was a hunter. His old mentor and friend of his father's has left him a clue to find an ancient magical artifact, the Eye. With it, he can have one wish. Quinn wants to be human again. He is determined to find the Eye. Janie Parker is one of the best looking mercenaries you'll ever see. Cute and blonde, she is a supernatural assassin working for the Boss from Hell. If you fail on a job, it's rare you'll live to tell anyone else about it. The Boss has sent her to retrieve the Eye for him. This time he has threatened more than her life, but that of her sister as well. Janie is determined to find the Eye and give it to the Boss. Quinn and Janie meet up in time to fight off a group of werewolves. Quinn has a map to the Eye. Janie plans to stick with him. Her older brother had also been a vampire hunter and had been friends with Quinn until he died. When she was a young teen, Janie had had a crush on Quinn. Now that she was grown and wiser, she saw him clearly. Plus he is a vampire now, making him a potential danger. The Boss had warned her that a vampire was after the Eye and may need to be staked. She hadn't known it would be someone she knew. They start working together to decipher the map and find the Eye. But what will happen once they've found it? Lady & the Vamp is a standard paranormal romance. It's the third in a series where we had already met Quinn. (I haven't read them, but I'm guessing he was turned into a vampire in one of the earlier novels.) Both characters have their baggage which makes them understandable. They may be supernatural, but hey, they're still human (sort of). Michelle Rowen has created her own interesting version of the vampire world. For example, they can go out in the daylight without any problems except the brightness affects their vision - but sunglasses are cool, aren't they. There are many establishments that are actually vampire bars that sell blood so a vamp doesn't have to eat from a human unless by choice or extreme emergency. Enjoy Lady & the Vamp when you want to escape into a fantasy world for a while. Notice: Non-graphic violence, Strong sexual content Publicist provided for review |
