Key of KnowledgeNora Roberts
It is Dana Steele's turn to locate a magical key. She, along with Malory Price and Zoe McCourt accepted a strange invitation to the local "castle" in Western Pennsylvania. Their unusual hosts offered them an oddly compelling challenge - to join a quest for mythological keys to free three Celt demi-goddesses from a 3,000 year sleep. They would receive a sum of money if they accept, a larger sum if all three succeed, and if they fail, they will lose a year of their lives. Malory was able to locate the first key within the four week time allowed. Now Dana has to use her strengths to find the second key. She is a librarian, and loves to read as well. She is joining her new friends, Zoe and Malory, in opening new businesses. She will have the bookstore. Dana is certain her key will be involved in a book. Unfortunately, Jordan Hawke is also part of the quest. He broke Dana's heart when he left their small Pennsylvania city to go to New York. He succeeded in chosen career, writing novels. Over the years Jordan has returned to visit Dana's brother, Flynn Hennessy, and their third friend, Brad Vane. Dana has always avoided Jordan or sniped at him when she couldn't avoid him. She hasn't forgiven him for how he used her when they were younger. There is a problem with the quest that appeared as the first key was being sought. Now Kane, the Celtic god who is trying to keep the keys hidden, is stronger. He also isn't following the rules that had been set for the quest for the past 3,000 years. He also isn't keeping his malice for the searcher. Kane will strike not only at Dana, but the person Kane feels is important to her, Jordan. Dana has to find the key while she and Jordan protect each other. Key of Knowledge is the second in Nora Roberts' Key trilogy. This is Dana and Jordan's story. Malory, Flynn, Zoe, and Brad are also very important in the book as the group try to solve the location of the keys. Key of Knowledge includes Celtic mythology and modern day investigation. It involves good, evil, love, hate, loyalty and cheating. Malory, Dana, and Zoe are up against Celtic gods. Mortals can now not only be manipulated by those gods but hurt and possibly killed by them as well. Author Roberts makes Dana an independent, self reliant woman in Key of Knowledge. Jordan is a good foil for her. This book forwards the ongoing story of the quest for the keys that involves all three books in the trilogy: Key of Light, Key of Knowledge, and Key of Valor. I enjoyed this book. This is a good romance with the extra mythology and trouble to keep the reader's interest. This book, along with the other two of the Key Trilogy, can be found at Notice: Explicit sexual situations |
