Vincent Valtrez has been fighting his dark side all his life. His father abused him and tried to make Vincent into his image. Instead, Vincent killed his father trying to protect his mother. Now, as an adult, Vincent is an FBI agent who protects the innocent. There are two passions in his life - his job and a succession of nameless women. Now he is requested to return to Eerie, Tennessee, where he was born, to find a serial killer. Clarissa King is a psychic who sees the ghosts of people who have not yet left the earth for another realm. She tries to help them find the light, but it is draining. When she isn't counseling ghosts, she is a family and grief counselor in Eerie. As a child she had seen where her mother had committed suicide by hanging. She also had been Vincent's friend, trying one time to protect him from his father. When orphaned Vincent had left town. Now she will see him again. She hopes he can stop the evil she knows is present. A demon has entered a human in Eerie and is killing young women. The murders seem unrelated, yet Clarissa and the sheriff are certain it is one person doing the killing. Vincent has to discover the truth about the murders, about Clarissa, and about himself before the eclipse of the moon in a week. That's the only way to stop the murders - if there is any way they can be stopped. I have a problem with Insatiable Desire . Rita Herron is a good writer who pulled me right in. I had to keep reading. I didn't like the story, though. I realize that I don't care for books with evil demons. I happen to believe in angels and demons and the ones in this book are too gruesome, just like an evil demon should be. This is a romance. We know that good will triumph in the end. Herron's writing will keep the reader going, knowing that. But the ride is bumpy if you don't care for the subject matter. I didn't. There is too much violence and raw, angry sex. So you decide for yourself. If you can handle the subject, you'll probably enjoy the book. Herron is a wordsmith. Otherwise, don't bother.
