Max Fortune travels to the bed and breakfast near Seattle to see his deceased boss's lover. He does not know what Jason Curzon saw in Cleopatra Robbins or her bed and breakfast, The Robbins' Nest Inn. Jason ran a luxury hotel chain. Everything was very different at Cleo's place. Cleo has a secret. She has written a feminine erotica fantasy novel called The Mirror. When she first sees Max, she recognizes him as the man whom she saw darkly in the mirror of her fantasies. Someone else also knows about the novel. She is now being stalked by someone who is using the symbolism from her story. Max quickly realizes that Cleo is not the woman he first imagined. He isn't sure how, but the next thing he knows, he is helping with the day to day chores of the inn while he looks for the paintings Jason left him at the bed and breakfast. He also finds himself attracted to Cleo. This is an intelligent romance. The emotions that keep Cleo and Max apart, then bring them together are believable. They are not mislead by rumors or suppositions. Once they start accepting each other, they start believing in each other. The characters around them add to the richness of the novel. These are multilayered people. Enjoy. Notice: Strong sexual content |
