Eve Benedict is an actress in Hollywood who can still be called a goddess. She started her film work in the 1940's and still is on top today. She knows the time has come to write her autobiography. There are a lot of secrets in her past. She wants to be able to tell the story herself. Julia Summers writes excellent biographies. Eve decides to bring Julia and her son Brandon to Hollywood to live for a while. Julia is the author Eve feels will do the best work with her biography. Eve starts revealing her life's stories to Julia. Many of them are damaging to the other parties involved. After all these years, Eve's colleagues, friends, ex-husbands, ex-lovers, and family do not want these incidents revealed. Eve is determined to tell an honest story. She knows Julia is the person to do it. Julia quickly finds herself pulled to Eve Benedict. She listens to the reminisces without commenting, knowing how damaging some will be for both Eve and the others included. She also finds herself attracted to Eve's stepson, Paul Winthrop. Paul is also against the book because he cares for Eve. He does not want her damaged by her past. Paul is prepared to put Julia off. Instead, he finds himself attracted as well. While this is a readable book, it is not one of Nora Roberts' best. Any fan of hers will not be disappointed. The suspense is there, all the right characters and motives are there. I enjoyed reading it. But I didn't mind putting it down when there were other things to do. Notice: Strong sexual content |
