Finding AmyCarol Steward
When Jessica Mathers' husband died in a car crash while driving, Sam Vance was the policeman who located Amy near the car. Jessica's daughter had been thrown from the car and no one but Sam believed the mother at first. Now Jessica has turned around her life and is working at a women's crisis center there in Colorado Springs. But her back was injured in the car crash. She needs a final surgery to fuse it and let her return to a normal life. Sam had not been impressed with Jessica the night of the crash - he believed both of the parents had been drinking. It also appeared she had been hit by her husband, but she kept denying it. His mother puts the two of them together when she is working on a bachelor auction for the crisis center. This time he sees a different woman and finds himself attracted. Then, while Jessica is in the hospital having surgery, the woman who was caring for Amy disappeared with the 3-year-old girl. Jessica is frantic but recovering from surgery and cannot do much. Sam steps in to be her support while the missing child policewoman is looking for Amy. Sam learns he wants to be Jessica's and Amy's support the rest of his life. Can he, with God's help, convince Jessica that she can also rely on God and him to find her daughter and to let herself love again? Finding Amy is Christian romantic suspense. The reader knows that Amy will be returned and all will be well with Sam and Jessica - after all, it is a romance. Yet Carol Stewart has given the story has an interesting mystery to follow as well. There is also an ongoing arc that applies to six books in this series, each by a different author. I'm interested enough to hope I find some of the others, as well. I especially want to know what happens to Sam's ex-girfriend (and child hunting police woman) Becky. While not edge-of-the-seat suspense, Finding Amy is an enjoyable way to spend a few cozy hours.
