Jo Wilder was born and raised in the circus. When her parents were killed in an automobile accident, Frank Prescott, the owner of their circus, took over for them. When he died, he left the circus to his estranged son. Jo isn't pleased because Keane Prescott had had no contact with his father. How can this stranger from Chicago understand their small circus that travels in the Southeast? When Keane arrives he has his own question. How can this beautiful young woman be a lion tamer? Keane and Jo rub against each other the wrong way - and fight their attraction. But she belongs in the circus. He is a lawyer in Chicago. Their worlds do not intersect except for his ownership of the circus. An amusement park has been Megan Miller's home. Her grandfather owns the park on the South Carolina coast. He runs the park, she runs the business and helps at the park. In her spare time she works on her sculptures. Dave "Katch" Katcherton has been scouting the area. He believes the amusement park would be a good investment. Her grandfather is considering it. Meg doesn't want him to sell, especially to Katch. From the moment she met him at the nearby store she feels he's a rogue. He is definitely a charmer and immediately becomes friends with her grandfather. He also wants Meg. Meg is resistant, but she is fighting herself as well. She takes refuge in her art when he rejects her as she's ready to give in to him. Jo and Keane are featured in one of Nora Roberts' early Silhouette novels, Untamed. Katch and Meg are in another, Less of a Stranger. Both novels were written in the early 1980's. They were rereleased together in the mid 2000's under the title Dream Makers. These are charming, sappy novels that are representative of the growth of romances at the time. Roberts hadn't yet started writing her books from the man's viewpoint as well as the woman's (except a brief beginning with Katch). The characters are still a little over the top for believability, yet quite acceptable for the romances of the time. They are delightful and warm the romance reader's heart. Nora Roberts has written hundreds of novels. These two were some of her earlier ones and show the promise that we now have. I enjoyed them, especially the second one, Less of a Stranger. These aren't great literature, but they are entertaining and a great escape. Notice: Suggestive dialogue or situations |
