Nell Channing believes she has found home. She has been on the run for the past year, a battered wife who believed her only escape was to fake her death. Now with her new identity, she finds Three Sisters Island. The New England island pulls her as no place has before. Here she can settle and be safe. She falls into a job cooking for a small new age restaurant. She is an excellent cook. Soon the restaurant attracts not only the summer tourists but the islanders as well. One of the natives attracted is the local sheriff, Zachary Todd. Nell wants to avoid him because of her fradulent persona. Yet there is a pull between them she cannot deny. Mia, the owner of the restaurant, immediately recognizes Nell as a long-awaited "sister". She practices an old craft, and knows Nell is the third person she needs to save the island. The second person, Zach's sister Ripley, denies Mia's beliefs and practices. At the same time, she will do whatever she needs to ensure her brother's happiness. Nell may be the key to Zach's future. What will happen when the truth comes out? Once again Roberts gives us an enjoyable, supernatural love story. It is firmly rooted in "now" and made believable. It is also an advocate book for battered wives. Nell does not fit the normal battered wife pattern, yet she was a sucked into it as any other woman may have been. If it helps one other woman get out of a like situation, Roberts has made a statement. This is the first of the Three Sisters triology. The next two are Heaven and Earth and Face the Fire. Notice: Strong sexual content |
