Flynn Daly is the independent member of her family, insisting she make her own way and find the job she really loves rather than fall in line into the family business. But after another failed job and romance, she gives in to her sister's pressure. Her first job for the family is to go the the inn the family just inherited in New England. She is to run it, find out what shape it is in, and generally keep it going until the business can sell it.

There are a few things she hadn't expected. For example, she is out in the middle of nature. She has always lived in the concrete world of Boston. There are bugs and dirt and... Also, the unknown aunt who died keeps visiting her. Great-aunt Esther doesn't want to leave even though she is dead. And she won't let Flynn get rid of the kitschy cow creamers on a shelf in the living room.

Then there is Jake Tucker, the bartender at the inn. Jake also is an ex-cop who made one stupid mistake. Now he believes someone killed Esther, probably the same person who is responsible for Jake's father's death. Jake is determined to find the truth about the killer and convince the new manager of the inn to keep the business. No one wants to have the local historic inn sold out to one of the big hotel chains.

Crazy in Love is a fun romp of a romance novel with a mystery thrown in to keep it interesting. Lani Diane Rich has written a chick lit book that has the reader mentally smiling, and sometimes literally smiling, almost from the beginning. Although not deeply drawn, the characters are nicely rounded out and interesting. The ending is predictable. It's still fun getting to it, though.
