Come the SpringJulie Garwood
I was listening to this book on tape 6 of 7 when the tape jammed! Aaaaaaaaaggghhhh! Off to the library to return the book (and meanwhile borrowed Alice in Wonderland on tape) and found it in bound form to finish. Whew! This is such an enjoyable romance. Cole Claybourne finds himself swindled into become a U.S. Marshall. Daniel Ryan has been dogging Cole for the past year or so. Daniel has stolen Cole's compass. Now he returns the compass for Cole's services with the law. Daniel wants Cole to help him catch the Blackwater Gang, a group of men who rob banks and kills anyone in the banks before they leave. They also will return to kill any possible witnesses. The Blackwater Gang hit the bank in Rockford Falls, Montana. In the first chapter a woman witnesses the robbery/murders without the gang knowing. When Marshalls Claybourne and Ryan get to town, they discover three women who had been in the bank that day. None confess to being a witness because the Gang's reputation precedes them. Jessica is an unwed mother with a rambunctuous boy. Grace is from England and is looking for a new life in Western America. Rebecca was returning to Saint Louis when she stopped in Rockford Falls. Which woman was in the bank? These women have to be protected until the witness can be discovered. Cole and Daniel find themselves having to protect three beautiful, independent women and one small, precocious boy. Meanwhile, they find themselves fighting an attraction to the beauties. This charming book can be found at Notice: Somewhat explicit sexual situations The Series:For the Roses |
