Born in IceNora Roberts
Brianna runs a bed and breakfast on the western coast of Ireland. She loves making and maintaining a home. She relaxes by scrubbing floors and baking, although her main love is gardening. She has rented a room to a writer for six months or so which will pay for the greenhouse she has dreamed of having. Brianna's mother is a bitter woman. She married because she was pregnant with Brianna's sister, Maggie. She stayed in a loveless marriage and had Brianna out of a sense of duty. She never showed her daughters the affection and love they craved. Brianna's and Maggie's lives have been shaped by a bitter woman and a loving father, now dead. Brianna discovers family secrets that will upset their mother even more once they are learned. Grayson Thane is a thriller mystery writer. His newest manuscript takes place in Ireland. He had heard about Brianna's bed and breakfast through some acquaintances and felt it would be a good place for writing. He was right. Blackthorn Cottage is perfect for writing. Ireland is lovely, and has wonderful settings for his murder mystery. Grayson is also a loner, a self-described gypsy. He finds Brianna to be a lovely as Ireland and finds himself drawn to her. He wants to help her and protect her as well as make love to her. But even when she tells him she loves him, he cannot make that same commitment to her. Ms. Roberts gives a realistic picture of modern day Irland. The wild sea, the falling castles, the neighborliness of the small Irish village, and the countryside are vividly drawn. It is the second of a trilogy, with Maggie being featured in Born in Fire and their friend Murphy in Born in Shame. You can find more about this book at Notice: Somewhat explicit sexual situations |
