The BlessingJude Deveraux
Amy is a poor but proud widow living in a small town in Kentucky. Jason Wilding is a self made millionaire who lived in that town as a child. Jason's brother, David, tricks him into returning to the town. David is in love with Amy. But Amy is so busy with her infant son, Max, that she will not date. David cons Jason into being a short term live in nanny for Max. When Jason moves into Amy's home for Christmas week, he is appalled at her poverty. This is a romance. Of course Jason quickly falls for Amy. But she does not realize what he really is. She knows he has been a lucky charm for her, but does not know he is rich, powerful, and is deceiving her. When she finds out, her pride kicks in. This is a very readable novel. It is quick, light reading. While Deveraux has written better, this one will hold your attention.
