If you're not interested in pretorist beliefs, do not read this book. If you don't know what pretorist beliefs are, you may not want to read this review. But if you know what I'm talking about, you're part of a very select group that will find this book interesting. That said, I did not finish this book. I do not share these beliefs. However, I grew up with the author. When your brother writes a book you try to read it. My problem is that I do not understand the eschatology behind his beliefs. The jargon he uses needs explaining even before I have a chance to understand the book. Also, it might have helped if I had read R.C. Sproul's book, The Last Days According to Jesus. Now for the people who know about pretorism, understand terms like parousia and exegetical, and/or have read Sproul's book, this is supposed to be an excellent treatise. The author deals very well with bringing up his objections to Sproul's writings in a Biblical, logical manner. This is a short text, only a hundred pages or so. It addresses a very specific subject. It has been getting positive responses from readers who understand it. I was impressed that (like any good writer) while he disagreed with one part of Sproul's book, he is very supportive of the rest of it. The publisher is Kingdom Publications in Pennsylvania. They have a lot of material about the Christian pretorist view. This book can be ordered through them. Link no longer valid 9/09 |
