Eve Dallas is leaving the Precinct one evening when she gets a jammed transmission on her personal comm link. It is a message about a murder that is about to take place. By the time she solves the riddle and arrives at the murder scene, it is too late. There she finds a brutally mutilated body. She soon receives another communication. Once again, she is too late to save the victim. By now she and the police force are putting clues together. They lead back to Roarke, and specifically his man, Summerset. He has shown up on tapes that place him at the scene of a murder. He has no alibi, and a past link with the victims. Dallas and Summerset have an uneasy relationship, connected because of their devotion to Roarke. Will she be able to protect him? Will she be able to protect Roarke? Will any more of their past friends and associates be murdered? Who is wanting revenge? Again Robb/Roberts has given us a superb dark futuristic murder mystery with Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke. The world created in this series is fascinating and repelling. Eve is full of anger and angst. She uses it in her position as a Lieutenant in the New York police force 50 or so years from now. I really enjoy this series, and this one adds to the attraction. Revenge can be nasty. So is murder. Notice: Graphic violence, Strong indecent language, Strong sexual content, Graphic violence |
