Tombstone CourageJ.A. Jance
Joanna Brady is running for sheriff of her county in Arizona. She is restructuring her life. She and her family, expecially her daughter Jennifer, are learning how to adjust. She is busy with her job, her family, and her campaign. As election day ends she barely rescues her minister and a husband and wife from a speeding car. Harold Lamm Patterson spends election day worring about his daughters. Holly has returned to town accusing him of molesting her as a child. The case goes to court the following day. His other daughter, Ivy, and cousin Bertram, have supported him throught the preceding weeks. Yet now he has decided to settle before the case can go in front of a jury. Holly is amazed. Ivy is furious. When he is found dead two days later, neither are as upset as would be expected. This is a wonderful, enjoyable novel. I highly recommend it, and look forward to more books in the series. The mystery is excellent, with the clues there but obscured enough to keep the reader following through for the revelations at the end. The emotions following Joanna, her family, and the Patterson family catch the reader in the net. You can find more about this book at Desert Heat |
