H.H. Donaldson walks out of the women's University of Virginia's basketball and collapses in the parking lot. He is dead almost as soon as he hits the snowy pavement. Harry Haristeen is there when it happens. So are her two cats and dog. Mrs. Murphy, Pewter, and Tucker know that Harry will want to investigate the murder. And possibly endanger herself as well. Donaldson owned a construction company that was trying to move from homes to large building constructions. He had just lost an account to the firm that has built most of the malls, business centers, and other large complexes for the past 20 years. He was a philanderer, and his last affair was with a woman in the country building inspector's office. It is January, with the worst blizzard in years on the way to their corner of Virginia. Harry and her friends brace for the weather. Donaldson's death intrigued her. Then another body is found. There has to be a connection - but what is it? If only the animals can really communicate with their owner. Mrs. Murphy, Pewter, the cats, and Tucker, the corgi, figure out the mysteries sooner. This book is cute, but nothing special. The personal life of Harry is ongoing - what is going to happen between her and her ex-husband, Fair? |
