SkeletonsKate Wilhelm
Lee Donne has finished four years of college - but she didn't graduate because she doesn't have enough credits in any field for a major. She could decide what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. Her parents were very successful in their fields. Her brother is studying to be a brain surgeon. Even her college roommate, Casey, is a computer genius who earns her Master's degree while Lee is busy underachieving. Lee has one unusual feature - an eidetic memory - she remembers every detail of every thing she sees. She agrees to house sit for her grandfather in Eugene, Oregon. When someone starts to harass her in the lonely home, she gets nervous. Casey joins her. The odd noises continue at nighttime - but the police don't find anything when they come out to the house in the daylight. Now Lee wants to know why someone is trying to frighten her. She and Casey start hunting in all the corners of the old home. What they find is worse than they expect. Hidden away they find some old pictures from 1940's Louisiana - of a Ku Klux Klan lynching. Why did her grandfather have the pictures hidden away? Is this what the anonymous stalker wanted? Why are they important now, 50 years later? Lee is determined to find out what happened then and how it relates to now. She soon discovers that it's worse than she ever could have imagined. She also may be discovering "what she wants to do when she grows up" - only if she isn't killed first, of course. Skeletons is a spine-tingling suspense novel. It doesn't follow the expected line - right through to a denouement right at the end. Instead, takes unexpected twists that takes Lee to Louisiana, to a break with her mother, and to a possible new career. Kate Wilhelm has crafted a skillful novel that keeps the reader pulled in. This is a novel to appeal to any suspense reader. You can find more about this book at
