After reading this book you will have a whole new perspective of the Supreme Court. Before I read this book I did not think through that the third most powerful person in our government is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. This is a good mystery. Clarence Sutherland was a clerk to Chief Justice Poulson. One Friday morning, Mr. Sutherland was found sitting in the main chambers, sitting in the Chief Justice's seat, and dead of a bullet to the head. Mr. Sutherland was not an innocent victim. It seems he was a womanizer and a blackmailer. He used these attributes to get ahead in Washington D.C. politics. Many people, both male and female, had reasons for wanting Mr. Sutherland dead. But who actually did it? Was it the Chief Justice? Or another of the clerks who was in love with him? Was it someone he blackmailed? Or one of his many women? I had a good idea who it was, but could not prove it with the evidence I found. Our police detective, Martin, and Justice department employee, Susanna, keep working at it, and finally discover who committed Murder in the Supreme Court. |
