Murder at the PentagonMargaret Truman
When an important weapons scientist is killed in the Pentagon, Maj. Margit Falk is assigned to defend the officer accused of the murder. She believes him when he says he did not do it. But she is running into all sorts of mysteries and problems as she starts to build his defense. So she turns to her ex-professor, friend, and mentor, MacKenzie Smith, for assistance. She knows she is now off the case. But she has made a promise to his mother to get him cleared. So Margit avoids getting the order to drop the case and does more investigation on her own. She is proud of her Air Force career. Yet she feels there is something going on to frame her client. Is it the military responsible, or is it the pacifist senator's group? I enjoyed Murder at the Pentagon. Margit is a real person, fighting for her beliefs, her pride in her job and uniform, and loyalty to her country. Her boyfriend may be involved, her immediate superior may be involved, and someone is having her followed. She gets angry, confused, upset. Fortunately she can count on Mac and Annabelle Smith to help her with the investigation she needs. Her only escape is her love of flying a chopper. Margaret Truman was in top form when writing this one. You can find more about this book at The Series: Murder in the White House |
