Once again Margaret Truman takes us into Washington DC and high politics in our country. A senator's college daughter is last seen dancing at a society party. As she is leaving she argues with her father. The next morning she is found dead by vagrants. Joe Potamos works for the Washington Post. He is assigned the story to cover Valerie Frolich's murder. Joe runs up against an old adversary from the journalistic field as he starts investigating. This man has high connections, and soon Joe finds himself pulled off the story. The murdered girl is part of an elite journalism class at Georgetown University. The other members of this small class have their own ideas as to what happened to her. Murder in Georgetown is a good story. As usual, Ms. Truman alludes to the reasons for the murder, yet is able to keep the reader in suspense. |
