Reverend Singletary officiated at Mac and Annabelle Smith's wedding at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. A few months later the Reverend is found dead in one of the chapels at the Cathedral. Was he killed by a member of the Cathedral staff? Or was it someone from the international Word of Peace organization? Or was a government official involved? As a criminal lawyer turned college professor, MacKenzie Smith tried to stay away from major crimes. But the bishop of the Cathedral, a special friend of his, asked for assistance. Now Mac is involved even though he would prefer not to be. And how much does he involve his bride? This book is fun to read. I enjoyed learning the history of the National Cathedral itself. Margaret Truman is excellent at including the flavor of Washington DC and its mechanisms in her novels. I was not able to figure out who was responsible for the murder. The plot becomes even more twisted when another Anglican priest is murdered in a simalar manner in England. Murder at the National Cathedral keeps the mystery. |
