Mag-ni-fi-cat and the Christmas Tree MysteryLinda E. Masek
Magdelena, a black Burmese cat, lives with Lina and Moms. Maggie, as she is commonly called, is the first person viewpoint of the story. Recently "Light Fingers Louie" was released from jail for a theft five years previously, in 1953. One bracelet from the crime was never recovered and he served his time. Now he lives above the pharmacy and jewelry store and keeps to himself. Moms' friend, Sheriff Brewster, is over at Maggie and Lina's home when he is called about a tree theft at the local Christmas tree lot. A number of the larger trees have disappeared, and there are no footsteps in the snow showing who could have dragged them off, or where they went. Maggie and Lina start investigating the mystery. They are sure that Light Fingers is connected to the tree theft, but do not know how or why. They will keep digging until they can find the connection. This quick read was pleasant. Since I love cats and Christmas, I had to read it just because of the title. It is not spellbinding reading, but a fun way to while away an hour or two. Although out of print, more information for this book can be found at |
