This review is by Molly Following one of London's famous 'Pea Souper' fogs the wife of Patrick Edwards C I D has gone missing. Alec Strand and his elderly neighbor Ellen Higgins find themselves drawn into a situation filled with mystery, danger and intrigue as they work to rescue Maggie from sure death at the hands of a 'bent copper.' The Caney Valley 'Tuesday Readers' give two thumbs up to this book by m j hollingshead. We found the 'first in a series' book an entertaining read by a new author. The tale held our interest, and kept us turning the pages. Jandy's Review 6/5/2002 Maggie Edwards, Chief Inspector Edwards' wife, has disappeared. She has been kidnapped. What the police do not know is that another policeman is responsible. He feels Inspector Edwards treated him unfairly. Now he is seeking revenge. There is also a serial killer in London. Two young womens bodies have been found. The police are certain there are more to be found. There is also an expert thief stealing rare postage stamps. There are three important cases going on at the same time. Maggie Edwards' case gets the most attention; the others are not ignored, though. Alec Strand owns a bookstore in London. When looking for a new location, he stumbles across some strange happenings. He soon realizes he may have a lead on one of the above crimes. Will he be able to help? I found the story line enjoyable. The identity of the "bent copper" is well handled. Otherwise, I feel this ebook needs an editor's red ink. I had fun with it; yet I was befuddled a few times until it straightened back out when there were odd time jumps and other side trackings. There's potential here; it will be interesting how the following books in the series go. This e-book can be found at Author Zone . |
