Lovely in Her Bones

Elizabeth MacPherson has finished her sociology degree at the university and is trying to decide where to go next in her future. She is taking a summer course on the medicinal use of herbs. Milo, her brother's roommate, is in forensic anthropology. When Elizabeth finds a skull on an herb hunt, she takes it to him. She is also hoping to make him notice her.

When Milo joins his professor on an archeological dig in the Appalachians. Elizabeth invites herself along as well. They are looking for proof of a small Indian tribe's history so the land can be protected by the government. Elizabeth gets to spend time with Milo (she hopes) and search for herbs as well. They expect to find more skulls. They do not expect to find dead bodies. Unfortunately, they do.

While the mystery keeps the reader guessing, the story is average. I like Elizabeth MacPherson, yet the stories are lightweight. This one never quite catches on.
