Elk Park Preparatory School is assisting its seniors in choosing a college. They are having a series of meetings that Goldie Bear is catering. Her ward, Julian, is second in the senior class this year. The other exceptional students in the class are also involved in these meetings. Unfortunately after first meeting, Goldie walks out into the Colorado snow and discovers the body of the top student in the class. He had been speaking at the meeting earlier that evening. Now he has been murdered. Goldie once again finds herslef in the middle of a murder case. Tom Shultz is right there, too, investigating. When he is not checking out the murders, he is courting a reluctant Goldie. Goldie decides to look further into the situation. The Bear home is also the scene of vandalism. Arch is home alone when someone throws a rock through a window. Someone later blocks the chimney, filling the house with smoke. Then someone else dies. This is the third novel in the series. These are light, comfortable mysteries (can murder ever be comfortable?????). The plus of this series is the inclusion of some of the recipes featured in Goldie's catering business. There are always one or two I'd like to try (usually the ones with the most calories). This time I think the Irish Soda Bread stands out, although the red and white cookes (in honor of Stanford University) sound good, too. This one is a quick, enjoyable read. |
