Vivien Simpson is a happily married wife and mother. Edward Davis is a happily married man working for a congressman. When a plane crashes one snowy day in Washington D.C., they have no idea how much their lives are going to change. They are brought together under horrible circumstances, meeting at the medical examiner's office. Their spouses died in the plane crash. Then the news gets worse. Edward and Vivien are angry, hurt, and baffled. They come together while looking for answers. Will their search free them to love again? The reader starts Random Hearts with a perspective that Vivien and Edward do not have. We see Vivien's husband and Edward's wife before take off. Edward and Vivien only see the aftermath. That changed my perspective just a bit as I read the novel. I enjoyed Random Hearts even though I found it stretching believability. It never pulled me in deeply, but maintained my interest.
