Propeller One-Way Night CoachJohn Travolta
Jeff has loved airplanes all his life. Now, eight years old, he is flying from Newark to Los Angeles with his mother. It is 1962. She is going to be in the movies. He is excited because they are flying. And their flight is the longest cross country flight there is, so he'll be in the air a long time. Jeff tells us his story. We understand his excitement. We know his thrill as he meets the pilots in the cockpit. And his excitement when he gets to sleep in a berth! He falls in love with the stewardess. He tries to matchmake for his mother. He gives us the perspective of someone who has a love affair going with flying. This is a gentle, feel good book. It is short and takes less than an hour to read. Travolta also does the drawing in the book. The pen and ink drawings match the feeling of the book and the time period of the setting. If you are interested, check out |
