Tales from Margaritaville
Fictional Facts and Factual Fictions
5/31/2004
Is Margaritaville a real place or a state of mind? In the short stories in Tales from Margaritaville, the answer to the question is yes - it's both. Jimmy Buffet brings his love of the Caribbean Gulf, the southern coast of Alabama, and the islands to life in these tales. We meet interesting characters - Tulley, the 40-year-old cowboy who decides it's time to become a beach bum, and Aurora and Bora Alice, who run the restaurant in Heat Wave, Alabama.
The stories in Tales from Margaritaville span twenty years. The reader can feel the sultriness of southern Alabama and the cool breezes in the islands. At the end, the (presumably) true stories are vignettes of Buffet's life sailing or in the Caribbean. If you can't be at the beach, but would like to be there, pick up this book. Soon you'll feel like you're in the Caribbean. Enjoy.
