This book was first reviewed by Catherine. This is the most exciting book ever! It's about d'Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, against the Cardinal, with the King and.....well, conflict with the evil Milady! It's just the best book ever, combined with action and romance and history of France, and everything!! Read It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4/13/00 - My Review Catherine is right, this is an exciting book. It is fast paced, quick action, lots of good and evil. D'Artagnon and the three musketeers who befriend him are classic swashbuckling heroes. Milady, the antagonist, is very evil. The politics and morals of France in the 1600's is glossed over with a romantic brush. In my opinion, these four heroes are nothing more than 8-year-old boys in adult bodies. They have a wonderful time as they protect their country and each other. They are a lot of fun. D'Artagnon is just in from the countryside to made his fortune in the King's Army when he offends Athos, Porthos, and Aramis in three successive run ins. He is lucky that his duals with them are postponed. |
