To Visit the Queen by Diane Duane

To visit the Queen To Visit the QueenDiane Duane; Aspect/Warner Books 1999WorldCatIn this sequel to The Book of Night with Moon, Rhiow, Urruah, and Arhu are again asked to deal with a worldgate problem. This time something is wrong in London. They leave their normal post of Grand Central Station in New York and travel to England.

Humans are traveling through the gates unexpectedly. Due to these mishaps alternate Universes and timelines have been affected which will then turn and affect our timeline. Rhiow and her group help the London wizards find the problem and try to correct it. This not only includes the present, but travel back in time to Queen Victoria’s England. The Lone One is trying to bring on the darkness and end of the World more quickly then normal Entropy will do.

Meanwhile Rhiow is still dealing with the deaths of her friends in the last novel. Arhu is still young and impulsive. Urruah is one of the best gate repair wizards in the world. Their trips to London bring all their emotions and powers to play as they try to save the world they know.

I enjoyed this book more than the first one. In this one the world and magic kept my interest all the way through and makes me want to reread the first one, making me want to reevaluate my original opinion. The feline wizards were more appealing this time. Duane was comfortable with her world by this book and the characters dominate more.
