This short novel has Holmes trying to protect the life of the new Baskerville heir. His uncle died of a heart attack under mysterious circumstances. He has returned to England from Canada, eager to finish his uncle’s work of restoring the property and the Baskerville presence in the moors.

Holmes sends Watson out to the mansion with young Baskerville. Watson reports all the strange happenings around him while Holmes is also working on a blackmail case in London. There are definitely some strange happenings on the moors. Can the Baskerville curse and ghost be real? Will Watson be able to keep Baskerville safe?

What more can I say? Any devoted mystery reader knows about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Conan Doyle’s characters and stories are among the best known of the genre. This novel shows why. It is well crafted, keeping the reader supplied with all the clues yet letting the great Holmes put those clues together. You cannot go wrong with this one.
